Kayak tree This is the tree that I use to haul the kayak out of the water. Date: 2009-05-11
View from the kayak tree Below is the boat and an enormous pile of gear. Every time I go out, I ask myself if I really need all the junk I'm taking, and the answer is always "no," but I'm always short of something else, so I end up taking more every time. Date: 2009-05-11
Another view from the kayak tree. Date: 2009-05-11
The first anchor This has been here since late 2008. I'd had the van break down and had the ropes I used to get the kayak out of the water had been sabotaged the last two sea cliff attempts I made, and then I got sick for a couple months. Weighting it was disturbing. Date: 2009-05-11
The brushy area The vast majority of the route is either totally clean of just has a little moss on it. This part is the exception and was highly disturbing to aid off of. Date: 2009-05-11
Garbage! This bit was easy enough to climb, but the wetness and lack of any decent pro made it somewhat disturbing. Date: 2009-05-11
Looking down from the brushy area. The view here is amazing. The rock has an amazing number of climbable lines. Date: 2009-05-11
Looking up from the brushy area. Date: 2009-05-11
Attack of the ferns. Here the choice of holds was limited to dry, fragile bushes, ferns or muck. I eneded up using the ferns and the muck--even compared to the other options the bushes were too sketchy. Date: 2009-05-11
Finally some good pro. I think this tree is rated to hang a fire truck. Date: 2009-05-11
The rock to the left Looking right from the brushy area gave this amazing view of an almost flat vertical wall. Around the corner there are some interesting roofs. Date: 2009-05-11
Shangri-La Oh the luxury! I'm pretty sure that this is at least as large, level and well decorated as the rooms in the Shangri-La. I wouldn't even call it a bivy--more like a retreat. Date: 2009-05-11
Looking up from the Shagri-La There are a lot of possible lines to finish the route. The chimney looks the easiest albeit the wettest. Date: 2009-05-11
The ledge This spacious ledge is just to the left of the Shangri-La, on the other side of a chimney. The ledge gives access to a bunch of potential routes. Date: 2009-05-11
Garabaldi This was taken from just below the Shangri-La. Date: 2009-05-11
Britannia Beach Like ants beneath me. Date: 2009-05-11
Looking down from the Shangri-La. Date: 2009-05-11
My cam This is one of the cams from my neglected anchor. Under all the detritus is a bunch of rust. Date: 2009-05-11
