Trip Reports 1) Europa Siege It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents--except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up ... [snip] Also, muddy. Matthew Carroll led a merry band of lads and lasses up to the Chief in Squamish last weekend to lay siege to Europa, the new moderate route to the top of the Chief that is being cleaned out (Jeff Mottershead is spearheading the effort). They worked around the clock in shifts for the entire weekend on the route, accomplishing a ton of work. Thanks to all who helped out. II. Upcoming Events and Trips 1) Longhike, Oct. 6-7, Dry School TONIGHT Oct. 3 Wood 5 6:30pm Note the MANDATORY for everyone dry school on Oct. 3 -TONIGHT- in Wood 5 at 6:30pm Longhike is the VOC's annual rock climbing instructional weekend. Longhike is this weekend. The trip is full. If you are on the waiting list, come to dry school tonight. Those who have tickets, but don't show up, will lose their spot. Fun! Rides will be organized at dry school. Ben is stressing that everyone should read the wiki again for some updated information. There are also workhike possibilities for helping with various parts of longhike. Read the wiki: http://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/Longhike_2007 Also, as a preview of what is in store for the party... I received the following in my inbox today: "oh god they're small. with careful positioning my manhood is barely contained. it pains me to think how jeff will look." --Anonymous (British) VOCer 2) Clubroom Cleanup, Oct. 4 Come out to the clubroom tomorrow between 11am and 3pm to help clean things up. This counts as a workhike. Help restore the clubroom to its former glory! It counts as a workhike and you'll get to stay in a swanky hut. More info on the wiki. http://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/Phelix_Creek_Trail_Workhike_3 5) Skaha, Oct. 20-21 Skaha has been bumped up a week this year so that we can stay in the Stather's luxurious accomodations.
