I. Trip Reports

1) Semi-Alcoholic traverse
Bram and Lara did a horseshoe ski traverse last weekend, starting and
ending on the Brandywine FSR.  They first skied up towards the Brew
Hut, then continued west over to the Squamish-Cheakamus divide, around
Mt. Fee, and back down into Brandywine Meadows.

2) Goat
Gili posted a TR from a BCMC trip to Goat Mountain.  Great views were
had in non-ideal snow conditions.

3) Zoa
Thomas posted a report from the Zoa area (off the Coquihalla
highway).  There was 10-20 cm of powder on top the crust.  Sounds like
there is a lot more powder falling in the hills now!

4) New Cliffhanger opening
After a slight delay, the new Vancouver Cliffhanger location is open!
This is an indoor climbing gym if you were not aware.  Eric posted a
few thoughts on his experience.

II. Upcoming Events and Trips

1) Waddington Hut Trip, ongoing
A bunch of people are going to be hanging out between exams at the
hut.  Check out the board and wiki page.  Note that the ski into and
out of the hut can be a little tricky.  Combined with the lack of
very easy terrain at the hut, this might not be the best trip for
total beginners.

2) VOC Archives Workhike, Dec. 14
Our archivist Duncan has organized a workhike for tomorrow from 11:30
to 4:30 in the clubroom.  The general idea is to scan all of our old
stuff for easier access and preservation purposes.

3) Toboggan Party, Dec. 19
Andrew is organizing a toboggan party in the Garibaldi area.

4) Avalanche Course, Jan. 19-20
The VOC is organizing a Avalanche Skills Training (Level 1) course
through Canada West Mountain School in the new year.  This is an
excellent course to take in order to learn about avalanches and how to
avoid them in the backcountry.  Signup deadline is Dec. 18.  More info:
