I. Upcoming Events and Trips
1) Weekly Kayak Polo
Under the excuse of practicing eskimo-rolls, VOCers are holding weekly kayak-polo sessions at the UBC pool. Typically, half the time is spent practicing rolls, as there's always people that want to learn, and the rest of the time we play kayak-polo. The pool is warm so you don't need a wetsuit and beginners are always welcome. This usually happens on Tuesdays from 8:30 to 10pm, but please check the message board thread, and if you are coming write your name on the wiki page.

2) Easter Trip to Brew - Apr. 2-5
There's an Easter long weekend trip to the Brew Hut shaping up. Brew is warm, in an awesome location and has been responsible for only a few epics involving lost parties wandering the alpine meadow for hours/days.

3) Vantage Trip - Apr. 2-5
At least once a year, a group of VOCers head down to Vantage, Washington to climb in Frenchman Coulee, a gorge located in the Columbia River Plateau. There are hundreds of routes, sport and traditional, on a variety of rock ranging from 30m basalt column column cracks to sporty 5.12 jug-fests.

4) Year End Banquet - Apr. 7
What a year! It's time to celebrate in VOC style once again. Come join us for the Annual Banquet on Wednesday, April 7th. Our packed itinerary includes:

The low-down:
Who: VOC members and alumni
Where: St. James Community Hall, 3214 West 10 Avenue (@ Trutch)
When: April 7th, 2010, 6:00pm ($2 after 6:30pm) to 11:00pm
Please bring a delicious consumable (food or non-alcoholic beverage). If you're not sure what to make/bring, opt for a main dish! (We always run out). And don't forget to bring your own plate, cup, and cutlery.
Dress code is semi-formal once again, because why pass up the chance to have you all looking so lovely and handsome?

5) White Water Kayaking Day Trip - April 10th
There has been talk about this amongst the Tuesday evening pool paddlers for a long while now, so it's time it became reality. The pool is fun, but the real thing is out there on the rivers. For starters, we'd like to do something nice and simple and easy - the lower Seymour, for example (water levels permitting). Since people might be chewed-up after skiing over the Easter long weekend, the Saturday after that might be a good time to try this.

1) VOC Executive Elections
Love the VOC? Can't get enough of it? Join the exec!
Elections for executive members will be taking place during our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will happen during the Year End Banquet on April 7, @ 6pm (more details on the banquet will follow soon).

The VOC needs you to help run our club, continue organizing great trips, and getting everyone outdoors and having fantastic fun!
2) FMCBC Articles Needed
Since I'm sure you are all full of article ideas after writing one for the VOC Journal you should write one for Cloudburst! The last issue of Cloudburst featured a VOC trip photo on the cover so we should make it happen again.
Here is the info for writing your article:
Just a reminder that we will be accepting articles for the Spring/Summer issue of Cloudburst until April 15th. The sooner you send them in the better so we can review them and request any missing information. Please include photos if you have any as they really add to the articles.We welcome articles which inform our readers about mountain access, recreation, and conservation issues or activities in B.C. Articles should not exceed 1,000 words. Photos should be approximately 4x6 inch photos with 150 DPI resolution . With submitted articles please include the author. With submitted photos please include location, names of people in the photo and the name of the photographer.
