I. Special Announcement: Banquet and AGM today!

Once a year, we all meet up for a merry evening of eating, slideshowing, voting on the new executive members, laughing at VOC awards and dancing, and of course, marveling at the wonderful new VOC journal, which will be unveiled and given out that evening. Luckily that event has yet to happen this year! On the 23rd of March (today!) we meet at the ANZA club (near MEC) at 7pm. Come on out!

II. Upcoming Events and Trips

 1) End of Year Banquet and AGM, March 23 (Wed)

The year is starting to run out! Time for the end of year banquet! That's right, time to dress up, eat food, elect the new Exec and watch an epic slideshow and then dance and party until we're politely asked to leave! There will also be a slideshow by John Baldwin, the guy who wrote the backcountry ski guidebook, who happens to be a longtime VOC member!

 3) The Neve - For Real, March 25-27 (Fri-Sun)

Last year VOC'ers crossed the Garibaldi Neve twice during Sphinx camp and then at least once more by March. This year we've had three attempts so far get cancelled due to the slightly ridiculous amount of snow that's been falling. The weather may finally be starting to cooperate though, so we're going to take another stab at it. Only this time, we're going to make it.

 2) From the exec's desk

- The latest meeting with the new SUB planners involved a lengthy discussion about the future climbing wall. It should be bigger, better, and have a whole wall of windows.

- There have been some negotiations with sledders regarding an unresolved area near Tricouni (should it be motorized or non-motorized), Scott W will be representing the club.

- The budget is close to finalized, we are looking at continuing to spend on gear, and will have some expenses for hut maintenance. The budget will be presented at the AGM (today), to be voted on.

VI. Miscellaneous

 1) The exec needs YOU!

The VOC exec will be changing over at the banquet. If you think the club is doing a great job, join the exec to keep us moving in the right direction. If you think we're doing things terribly, join the exec to help guide us in a better direction. This is YOUR club, help keep it awesome.

IV. Ms. Manners

Do you have a question for Ms. Manners? If so, email it to to your friendly neighbourhood VOCene editor and he'll forward it to Ms. Manners for review. Remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question, so ask away.

Dear Ms. Manners,

I heard that tonight at the banquet, a new exec will be voted in, and that Ms. Manners might be laid off?!

Thank you,
Banquet Goer

===============

Dear BG,

Well, it's true that I work on an annual contract base, from banquet to banquet, so there is a possibility that I won't get a new contract. To be honest, it is completely up to the new VOCene editor. If he or she decide to lay me off, good luck to me in surviving through my old age without a pension!

Yours,
Ms. Manners
