End of Class Car Camping Rager · Sat. Apr. 9th - Sun. Apr. 10th (http://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/details.php?tripid=1176)

The semester is ending and that seems like a good enough reason to celebrate. We will be going to be Car camping up the Squamish Valley River. We will be staying at 49.915044, -123.295996 (GPS) which is a free camping area up the squamish valley road.

The goals of this trip are two-fold: to climb Mt. Garibaldi via the classic Northeast Face, and to enjoy and get images of the Brohm Ridge approach while it is still in a relatively untouched state. That could change soon, thanks to the Garibaldi At Squamish project.

Hey Ms Manners,

It looks like the skiing season's over, now that the powder's gone. I'm still in mourning over that. Now that the skiing season's over, how do I get into rock climbing?

Cheers,
Fun While It Lasted

Hey Fun,

It's not over yet! In fact, the skiing season this year can probably stretch into June depending on your experience/pain threshold!

We might not have powder anymore, but if you've skied at all over the last two years, all that means is we've got about the same conditions for April and May that we had for all of last winter. There'll be plenty of fresh corn snow wherever the sun's around to melt it out. Climbing mountains on skis when the sun's out is nearly as nice as doing it when it's clouded out but powdery. It's also traverse season!

We've got trips courtesy of Ross and Elliott (Powder Mountain and Rohr) that are perfect for beginner skiers wanting to get out and ski some great objectives. I believe the Neve is also in pretty good condition for a weekend trip. Obviously the ideal thing to do is ski one day, then rock climb the other. Tis the season.

Have fun in the sun,
Ms Manners
