Start: Friday, Aug. 25th, 7:00 pm
End: Saturday, Aug. 26th, 10:00 am

Description:

Have you had to spend a night outside without a tent? If not, here is your chance to try. Come bivvy near the third peak of the chief with some ACC/VOC folks (the most excellent company), and then join in for an amazing continental breakfast early on Saturday morning to kick start the weekend of centennial celebrations.

We'll meet at 7:00pm on Friday, hike up the backside trail to Slahney, and then traverse the to third peak to setup camp for the night.

Rules & Logistics

  • No tents.
  • No backpacks allowed (get creative).
  • You need at least one hand available for scrambling up the via-ferrata.
  • We'll need to shuttle cars - details TBA but vehicle logistics with be arranged closer to the time.
  • We'll hike down for breakfast at first-light. Food will be provided by the ACC, but we'll be asking for a small donation towards parks for anyone that can afford to do so, maybe $5 or just the promise of good will.
  • Group camping strategies are acceptable and encouraged, but we won't help facilitate the discussions on who who gets to be the "middle sandwich layer" or "big spoon". Make some friends and make it happen!
  • We will have a backpack with first/aid supplies and extra gear, food & water stashed away nearby. If it hits midnight and you realize you made a big mistake, we can likely help (and worst case scenario it's an easy one hour hike down), but there is an onus on you to attempt to rough it out.
  • There will definitely be hot chocolate at night and dessert in the morning for anyone that manages to bring a musical instrument (you also have to be able to play it though).
  • Prize for the most creative bivvy.

LNT Ethics, so anything you bring with has to be packed out and we'll have some wag-bags handy if you just can't wait.

Also, there is an ACC BBQ in Murrin Park park earlier in the day (2:00pm onwards) and as per most ACC socials, the VOC are invited to partake in the offering of free food / some bouldering, and slacklining ahead of the overnight event.

Looking forward to memorable night, I'll definitely be there, hope you can make it too!
