Start: Saturday, Feb. 17th, 8:00 am
End: Monday, Feb. 19th, 6:00 pm
Pre-trip meeting location: Message board faff

Description:

Mt Rohr is located off of the Duffey Lake Road in the South Coast Inland region. Snow in this region tends to be drier which usually results in more airy powder skiing. But it doesn't settle as quickly as snow in the Sea to Sky region or the North Shore thus resulting in higher avalanche risk.

Trip difficulty:

  • Class 2 Skiing: skiing moderate slopes
  • Class 3 Skiing: skiing sustained steep slopes (30 degrees) with sections that can be very steep (40 degrees)
  • Class B Physical Difficulty: Moderate difficulty, 5 to 8 hours of travel per day

Trip Requirements:

  1. Must have AST-1 or international equivalent of formal training. Recent practice (practice within past 3 months) in addition to formal training preferred
  2. Capable of carrying overnight pack with overnight equipment over a 4-6 hour approach
  3. Capable of camping outside in -20 C to -25 C (must have proper winter sleeping bag, winter sleeping pad, etc.)
  4. Capable of and comfortable with skiing moderate to steep runs (25 to 35-ish degrees, so Whistler blue to black runs) in all snow conditions (icey, pow, crud, compact snow, etc.) with your touring setup

See trip grading here.
