5) Easter Weekend Beginner-Friendly Trip to Brew Hut, April 23-25 (Easter)

An opportunity to go to the Brew hut giving enough time to actually ski something! Come celebrate Easter in the mountains, as it should be done.

6) Harrison Hut Mission, April 22-25 (Easter)

Our Harrison Hut has been cut off from the world since that mother of all landslides this summer. Or so you thought... This will be an exploratory trip - expect an adventure!

7) McBride Traverse (fast & light), April 22-25 (Easter)

The McBride Traverse - backbone of Garibaldi Park. So remote, and yet so close to home. Usually done in 6-8 days, we'll attempt a fast and light crossing...

II. This week in the VOC

 1) Past trips and events

We had five official VOC trips this weekend. Must be some type of a record?

- Climbing trip to Vantage - sun and desert scenery
http://www.ubc-voc.com/phorum2/read.php?f=3&i=18337&t=18337

- Beginner friendly trip to Red Heather - nice weather, good skiing, fun times
http://www.ubc-voc.com/phorum2/read.php?f=3&i=18453&t=18453

- Another Neve traverse, rather exciting to cross a crevasse field in a whiteout
http://www.ubc-voc.com/phorum2/read.php?f=3&i=18494&t=18494

- A group climbed Pelion in a whiteout, although they haven't posted a TR yet (still recovering?)
http://www.ubc-voc.com/phorum2/read.php?f=3&i=18396&t=18396

- The day trip sea kayaking trip might or might not have happened - haven't heard back from them yet! Must have been a blast.

 2) From the exec's desk

- Garibaldi PP say we should let them know if we are bringing a large group (>15) into the park. We should do this by using their tool for registering a "school" group. How fitting.

- We contacted Westmin steel to get a quote for the piece of steel flashing that broke on our Brew Hut. We will first look through their scrap pile, and if that fails we will order it to be custom made (not very expensive). The flashing might have to be carried up soon...

- Some people saw a helicopter buzzing around near our Brian Waddington Hut, possibly near the Aragorn Glacier. It has yet to be determined whether they were heli skiing outside of proper boundaries. They are allowed to fly wherever they want and are only restricted by where they can land.

III. Miscellaneous

 1) Rewards and incentives for trip organizers

Woohoo, prodeals for VOC Trip organizers! In return for leading trips, you now get not only immense satisfaction, but cheap gear too.

 2) VOC T-Shirts and Voile straps on sale

The colourful and inspiring VOC t-shirts have been a hit! We still have a few left, so why don't you come over to the clubroom to get one for yourself or as a gift? We also have lots of VOC Voile straps on sale, very useful in many situations (I own at least ten).

IV. Ms. Manners

Do you have a question for Ms. Manners? If so, email it to to your friendly neighbourhood VOCene editor and he'll forward it to Ms. Manners for review. Remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question, so ask away.

Dear Ms. Manners,

I was recently on a VOC trip and one of my passengers forgot their poo bag (FULL) in my car. WTF?!

Poo Disposer

===============

Dear PD,

As car drivers, you must have noticed that it is a rare occasion for your passengers not to forget anything in the car. However, usually we are talking about ski poles, shovels etc. Poo bags are another story. I would understand if the poo bag was empty, but a full poo bag obviously crosses a line. It's not a fine line, either, it's more like breaking through a double fence with land mines and guard dogs in between. However, bear with me for a moment, and imagine a worse scenario. What if, say, when the contents of the car shifted, the bag exploded?

You got off easy.

Yours,
Ms. Manners
