Climbing this mountain - which has the VOC as its namesake - is not currently a requirement for membership but could be soon. Help Nick M. navigate a route up this remote peak over the August long.

This will be round two of Summer 2011 Brew Flash-A-Thon. We need to finish getting new flashing installed on the Brew Hut, which is a beautiful place to visit anyways! Partaking in the flashing is strictly optional.

-In a feat of unrivaled heroism, a group of VOCer's hauled new windows up to the Phelix hut and installed them. For some, a 3'x4' piece of glass and frame was not enough and they had to haul up skis as well. Big round of e-pplause for everyone who participated, and to Phil T. and Roland for all the planning and preparatory work they did. What's up with the new organization for the upcoming trips in the VOCene? Why do you have to pigeonhole everything; can't we just all be one?

Dear Curious George,
I forwarded your question on to the VOCene editor, and he promptly wrote me this:
"In an effort to keep the VOCene a bit more organized and less cluttered, I decided to try out splitting the upcoming events/trips into two sections. The first section will still be called 'Upcoming Events and Trips', and will include any official VOC events as well as trips that have a page on the sign up tool (or the wiki) and have fairly set dates. The second section is called 'Trip Ideas and Partners Sought', and the idea here is to help out people who post on the message board seeking additions for their own smaller trips (the kind without signups and pre-trip meetings), or people floating half-baked ideas for future trips. I think it is nice to include such things in the VOCene, as not everyone is watching the message board, but I think the VOCene will flow better if they are separate from more established trips. Trips can certainly be moved from the second category to the first between mailings as plans firm up or a signup page gets created. Let me know if you do or don't like this system; feedback is always welcome!"
