Get them while they last! GETTING CLUB GEAR OVER SUMMER BREAK From Roland: Most VOC people get extremely unreliable about this time of year, so any gear hours which have been posted, may not apply. I shall get a gear key on Tuesday May 3, and if you want to do Gear Business with me, on or after that date, the procedure is simple. You email me and say what noon hour (M-F) you want to do gear, and I email back confirming that I will be there. That way if you have to bus in from Inuvik, you have an appointment. I won't stay there for hours waiting forlornly for somebody to show up. I will have good time management skills, arrive when I say I am going to, wait five minutes, and leave. If you arrive half an hour late and you still want to do gear, you can try phoning me at 604 822 2747, and if I can, I'll help you. BREW HUT CONSTRUCTION From Jean-Philippe Mercier: It is time to set up thing about Brew Hut this summer. We actually have to schedule one week for the construction including the preceding and the following week end. I have several options to propose: 4th week of june 1st week of july 1st or 2nd week of August. Please let me know if you are interested and when you are available. We also have to scout the new site and set up the foundation before building the hut. Please let me know if you would like to get involve in the foundation effort. You can either reply to this message on the board or go to the Brew hut reconstruction page on the Wiki (http://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/index.php?title=Brew_Hut_Rebuild) and sign up... -------------------------------------------------------------------- TRIP REPORTS -------------------------------------------------------------------- MOUNT BAKER By Martin Berka Juha, Henrik, Patrick and Martin skinned up Coleman glacier on Tuesday and summited Mount Baker at 4pm in brilliant hot weather. We can confirm increased sulphur fumes from the crater. The ski down was heavy but fast. -------------------------------------------------------------------- POINTS OF INTEREST -------------------------------------------------------------------- SCRAMBLES IN SOUTHWEST BC GUIDEBOOK Details about the guidebook can be found at: http://cairnpublishing.com/guidebooks/scrambles.htm This new book by VOC Alumnus Matt Gunn looks to be an excellent resource on peaks throughout this corner of the province.
