Upcoming Trips

THIS WEEK:
Pemberton Icefield traverse (http://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/details.php?tripid=1215) (intermediate)
May 19 - 23 --- Pemberton Icefield
This weekend a small group will attempt a ski traverse of the Pemberton Ice cap. If anyone is heading to the Harrison/Meager area, contact Mike as we'd be eternally grateful for car shuffle help (http://www.ubc-voc.com/phorum5/read.php?1,118178) .

Brew Hut (work) hike (http://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/details.php?tripid=1179) (beginner)
May 21 - 23 --- Brew
Get some trail work or hut work done and enjoy the beautiful surrounding areas of Brew Hut!

NEXT WEEK:
Lizzie Workhike (http://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/details.php?tripid=1221) (beginner)
May 28 - 29 --- Lizzie Lake
Lizzie Lake and the surrounding area is an alpine heaven near Pemberton. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to the club, and work on making getting to Lizzie *not* involve hours of shielding your face from second growth. There will also probably be a desert potluck and ukulele.

Past Trips
Ms. Manners enjoys sharing your trip pictures. Please send them her way (so that she doesn't have to harrass you to get them)!

Galiano Island biketrip: A group of six had a good time biking around Galiano Island. In the picture (taken by Ilya Kapralov) below, Jess takes a break with some bouldering at the Galiano Island caves. There was also some biking on dirt paths through forests (middle left). Picture taken by Jess Mellage.

Climbing & Skiing Extravaganza: A group without midweek commitments had a fun day climbing (with some rain) at Woodstock in Murrin Park, followed by skiing at Cypress. Picture of skiing taken by Emily Kuang (middle right).

Climbing & Hiking Stokefest I: A large group of VOCers set out for a weekend of hiking, camping, music, and climbing in Squamish. The hike involved beautiful views of the Howe Sound as can be seen in the bottom left picture taken by Julien St-Amand.

Vantage climbing: Some climbers drove South across the border to further explore the rock in the US. Shenanigans may or may not have included stuffed Modo vans, boxed wine, and night climbing. In the bottom right picture, climbers hang out at the crags. Picture taken by Lena Foerstel.

Tip of the Week:
Tell the time to sunset using your hands! Place your hand between the sun and the horizon/mountain tops. Each finger is worth about 15 minutes, so one hand means you have about 60 minutes left till sunset. Image taken from somewhere on the interwebs.
