Description:

Join me for 5 days of climbing in the mythical Eldred Valley. 2 hours North of Powell River lies a valley with more granite than Squamish could hope for - home to a number of giant walls towering up to 1000m over the valley bottom. As one might expect, the climbing is pretty damn good. So I've heard. There are a number of big trad routes in the area, between 5-15 pitches, usually in the 5.10 range. Though there should still be enough 5.8s/9s to fill your week. Much like Yosemite some 50 years ago, the Eldred valley looks to have some serious untapped potential. First ascent possibilities are high, if you're into that kind of thing.

You should be more or less self sufficient on this trip. We'll drive up and camp together, but it's up to you to find a climbing partner with similar ambitions. You can post on the message board to make friends if you want.

The camp is a walk in site, in the valley bottom. So it's not quite car camping, but you don't have to walk far by the sounds of it. Treat this like a backcountry site - hanging food and leaving no trace. There is no Walmart here.

It's a ~6hr drive from Vancouver, including 2 ferries. There are some access issues which we'll sort out a little closer to the trip. We may leave a day or two earlier depending on access, ferry timings, and people's schedules. We'll work this out later, June 11-15 is for sure though.
