Cassandra will share pictures, stories and a slidshow about her time in the Arctic!
Come hang out, listen and meet other VOCers.

Arctic is a special place; once you see it you will never forget its vast beauty, its spectacular peaks and its endless glaciers. In 2011 I first visited the Arctic taking a ship from Iceland across the Denmark Strait to East Greenland, and then headed south to parts of northern Labrador and Quebec. On this trip, I fell in love with the Arctic landscape, its wildlife and its harsh conditions. For the past five summers, I have had the amazing opportunity to return to the High Arctic on Ellesmere Island (a polar desert). Come hear about more than 12 months of camp life with 24 hour daylight, polar bear encounters, miniature plants, mild frostbite, muskoxen surveys, kayaking with walruses, endless weather delays and mild cabin fever.

Below is a map of the Canadian Arctic for some context. The majority of the presentation will be about Alexandra Fiord on Ellesmere Island 350km north of Grise Fiord (shown on the map).
