Start: Thursday, May. 23rd, 7:00 pm
End: Thursday, May. 23rd, 9:00 pm
Pre-trip meeting location: Lord Tennyson Elementary school

Description:

Want to go on spring ski traverses, do some summer glacier travel, or just dreaming of visiting a glacier? Come learn to rescue (or practice, if you already know how to) your VOC friends from the gaping crevasses that are the swing sets at the elementary school near where I live (Lord Tennyson Elementary School, near Broadway and Burrard)! No experience required, I'm happy to go through the basics, although it might take a few practice sessions before it fully sinks in. Some of the other important glacier travel skills such as how to use crampons, ice axes, read glacier terrain etc. are unfortunately less suited to being learned in a playground.

Bonus entertainment will be in the form of confused kids wondering what on earth we're doing; last time an eight year old emphatically said, "you're weird." The start time is a bit later, so that we're not too much in the way of the kids.

If it turns out to be rainy, we'll reschedule for another day.
