Interpretive Day Trip to Mount Seymour

Let’s explore BC’s beautiful landscapes (the ones close to home!) and learn a bit about BC’s history, biodiversity, and what the future of our protected areas could look like.

The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS – “See-paws”) wants to share its passion for BC’s protected areas by taking keen VOCers on a journey in one of them. CPAWS will provide transportation for ~ 4-6 people (vehicle-type to be booked soon). If there is a lot of interest, we may be able to secure a second vehicle, or have another group drive themselves. We hope to create a community of wilderness supporters with awesome stories to tell their friends AND to provide you with tools you can employ to speak up if you feel your voice is not being heard when it comes to our parks - or any matter at that!

The plan:

Email faff for the pre-trip.

Meet Saturday at 8 AM – Location to be finalized closer to date.

The hike: Mount Seymour Hike

8.2 km long 577 m elevation gain. This will take us about 4.5 hours. (Bring a yummy lunch!)

Back to the Vancouver meeting spot at 2:30 PM.

You will need to sign a CPAWS waiver (I will send it in advance for you to read) and a photo release form (CPAWS hopes to have your smiling faces, wonderful ponytails, and/or awesome quotes for some social media posts - only with your permission and approval first!).

Is this trip right for you? Answer: YES

Beginner-friendly paced hike!

You are new to the VOC, Vancouver, or you are a long-time “local”!

You are curious about the lands you keep exploring

You love listening to stories and belonging to a community

You want to have your voice heard when it comes down to big political decisions
