Description:

Recently, BC highways has installed some new No Parking signs on the plowed section of the road leading to the Rubble Creek Trailhead, and BC Parks cannot afford to plow the road any higher to create more parking. This means that there is currently no legal parking at that trailhead, and essentially elimintates winter access to Burton Hut and all of the other areas accessed via Rubble Creek.

The VOC, ACC, and FMCBC have been working together to come to a solution. We've considered a variety of options, such as fundraising for BC parks, and paying expensive plows. We've come to decision to solve this issue in true VOC style: by shoveling out parking spots on the road ourselves.

We've also started an online petition, which  you can sign here:

We are hoping that a large turn out of community members shoveling the road on March 7th will show the importance of winter access to our community. We are hoping to get some media attention as well. Hopefully, if there is a large enough turn out, it will help secure the funding to plow the road in future years.

Please consider making this a part of your weekend plans- it's time to come together as a community and show the importance of winter access to the places we love to ski.

I am starting a message board thread to organize rides.

You can email me at [email protected] if you have any quesitons or suggestions on how to make this as successful as possible. Hope to see you there!

Here is a spreadsheet to organize rides:
