Description:

Plan

Plan A is to leave Friday after school and do an evening approach into Keith's hut in Cerise creek. Then spend the weekend skiing some big(er) and steep(er) terrain. This area has a lot of options and what we end up skiing will depend on stability. Some examples of possible objectives in order of increasing pucker factor are: cheque's in the mail, vantage peak and Mt. Matier NW Face.

Requirements

This is a strenuous intermediate backcountry ski trip.

We will absolutely be in avalanche terrain so AST-1 (or equivalent) is a requirement for this trip. You also need to be comfortable skiing 45 degree slopes in less than ideal snow. We will be covering a lot of vertical (>1000m/day) so a high level of physical fitness is also a requirement.

Equipment

- Avalanche Gear.

- Backcountry ski gear. You should be intimitely familiar with whatever you are using.

- Gear for spending the night in a hut.
