Description:

If you're like me, you're watching ski season approach with a certain apprehension knowing you're probably not strong enough to rip tele turns with a full 65L winter pack on after skinning 1000+ vertical meters.

Enter: the Swole Series. Once a week I'm going to host a group workout to motivate myself (and hopefully others) to do exersize mid-week when I'm not on a trip. We're gonna get swole with a specific emphasis on strengthening muslce groups thatare important for balance/skiing/generally not tearing your ACL to shreds this winter.

This series is targeted at people of all fitness levels!

  • If you can't do a pushup, that's fine!
  • If you hate cardio and need peer support, this is for you!
  • If you're already hulkin' out but just wanna move around on Thursdays, we can accomodate that!
  • If you are only here becasue you're stuck talking only to your roommates and you really need to get out of the house more, at least you'll get fit by doing so!

If you are interested in learning to backcountry ski this winter, your season will start more smoothly (and more safely) if your fitness level is overall a little better (i.e. if you're SWOLE). Also, I'm hoping this event can be a platform for people to find workout buddies for other days of the week.

The Workout Plan:

  1. Warmup: ideally you arrive by foot/bike so you're already warmed up, but we'll do 5min of non intense/stretchy movements as a group to limber up.
  2.  HIIT (3 rounds of 5 different 1min workouts targeting leg and core strength). Expect burpees, lunges, squats, swimmers, flutter kicks, bridges, and more!
  3. Cardio: we're going to walk (or run depending on how tired you are after HIIT) the wreck beach stairs as fast as we can!
  4. Cooldown: some more stretches because stretching is important!

We will meet at the Rose Garden at 7:30am Thursday!
