Description:

I am quite experienced as a hiker but not really into brutal hikes. This is the first trip I'm organizing and I'm new to Vancouver, so bear with me :')

Expect -- a very happy Quebecer, some rain (??), some rocks

Bring -- a great rainjacket, great shoes or boots, water, lunch and snacks

The trail -- 16 km, 800 m elevation, a loop with mountain and lake. details here

The plan -- transit-friendly hike / cars NOT recommended (limited parking at Horseshoe Bay)

We leave at 8am-ish from UBC (others can join us for the 257 bus downtown).

Personally, I will grab the 14 Hastings bus at Eastbound Uni Blvd / Allison Rd at 8:10 am, hopping off at Granville St / Dunsmuir St Northbound at 8:40 am.

Then, I'll grab the 257 Horshoe Bay Express from W Georgia St / Seymour St Westbound at 8:56 am. It's an express bus to the bay in West Van where we'll be taking the ferry.

We arrive at the docks around 9:40 am, get our tickets, and take the 10:15 am ferry ride.

--> Do NOT arrive later than 9:50 am. It's important to be there early to get tickets, and ticket sales close 10-15 minutes before the next ride. Also, the next ferry is over 60 minutes later (yikes).

Arriving at Bowen Island around 10:30 am, we keep a pretty good pace (nothing crazy) going up the trail and stop for lunch halfway through.

We then stroll around and down (fine by me to explore bits of other trails if we have the energy) and make our way back to the ferry area. I would love to grab drinks together at a local pub (it's worth it, apparently) and then take the 5:20pm or 6:30pm ferry back to West Van.

FYI -- again, I'm new to trails around Vancouver, so we might have to figure stuff out along the way. I'm normally decent at navigation and will download AllTrails, but I need chill companions :))
