Description:

What’s up!

If swimming in pretty lakes, eating hot turkey sandwiches, and scrambling some cool peaks sounds like a good time, you’re in the right place!

The plan is to head up to Semaphore Lakes, North-West of Pemberton on Saturday morning. We should leave Vancouver around 6am to get the 3.5hr drive done and to the trailhead for 9:30am. That will leave us plenty of time to get the hike into the lake done (~1.5hrs), set up camp, and then get started on some scrambling.

Saturday after camp setup we will tackle Locomotive peak, then keep chugging to Tender and Faceless if time permits, then down for some thanksgiving eats and a late swim. Sunday if we are keen, I’d love to bag Face Mountain as well. From what I’ve heard it’s a little more technical and will require some confidence scrambling. The rest of Sunday will be for relaxing, exploring, eating, and drinking (that short hike in sounds awfully conducive to adding beer to the gear list!).

Given we might have some snow, an ice axe and spikes will likely be required beyond the regular overnight gear (gonna be some cold nights so be prepared to sleep below zero). A helmet is highly recommended as always for scrambling! You'll also need a bear bag or canister as their likely aren't great options to hang food.

The trip to the lakes will happen rain or shine, though the scrambles may be called off if it is super wet. Those who would rather do just one night, I am sure that could be arranged as long as it works with the car situation.

Hope to cya there and happy thanksgiving!
