Description:

Unfortunately, I can't join any of the other currently advertised trips to Panorama ridge. I very much would like to hike Panorama ridge once before I am going to leave BC though. So I am organizing my own trip here:

Details: the plan is to leave Vancouver early on Saturday morning so that we can start the hike from Rubble Creek parking lot at about 7 am. You can find an outline of the trail here. I will aim for an average pace of about 3km/h so that we can make it back to Rubble Creek at daylight. You can expect a solid 10 hours of hiking.

While this is not a beginner-friendly hike, you should also not be too intimidated by the length of the trail. Most parts of the trail are very well maintained, the ascend is very gradual, and only for the final ascend there is (very light) scrambling required. So completing this hike at an average pace of 3km/h is in fact easier than expected. (I am saying this based on my experience of hiking Black Tusk earlier in the summer which follows a very similar route within the same trail network). Still, it is a long hike, and if you are unsure about whether this hike is for you, please feel free to reach out to me!

Similarly as with Sawera's Panorama ridge trip: sign up for the trip is primarily on a first-come-first-serve basis, but experience will be taken into account for the wellbeing of all.

This trip is contingent on securing parking permits for the Rubble Creek parking lot (In my experience that should not be a problem). Moreover, if the weather is significantly better for Sunday or Monday, I suggest that we move the trip to one of these days. In case the whole weekend is rainy or there is a large amount of snow at the top of Panorama ridge, I suggest to go for a shorter and lower altitude hike instead, e.g., Elfine Lakes or Brandywine Mountain
