Description:

The weather forecast for Monday is improving, so why not head for the hills?

This route to Crown Mountain is about 10km with 900m of cumulative elevation gain, starting from the top of the Grouse gondola. Alltrails rates the trail as difficult and 105 Hikes classifies it as a double black diamond, so it should be a fun challenge :)

The plan is to meet outside the Grouse Mtn Peak Chalet at 9:30, which means there is time to do the Grind* beforehand if you're feeling extra adventurous. I'm expecting the hike to take between five and seven hours, depending on our pace and how long we spend soaking in the views.

I'm planning to take transit to the base of the mountain, but we can sort out rides at the meeting on Saturday. In case the forecast starts to deteriorate, we can also discuss some alternative hikes.

*Hiking the Grouse Grind would add an extra 2.9 km and 850m of elevation gain to your morning. The average time to complete the Grind is 1.5 hours.
