Description:
Gambier Island has few drivable roads, but lots of fun trails in various states of maintainence. I did some exploring there about a year ago, and would love to go back for some maritime views and mushroom hunting.
The plan:
1. Take ferries from Horseshoe Bay to New Brighton (~$25 total round trip)
2. Run/hike a hilly, thirty-something-km loop over/around some of the island's hills and lakes (possibly including the island highpoint)
Requirements:
1. Have the fitness and enthusiasm to run a good portion of the route (at least the majority of the downhills and flats)
2. Sign up as committed before the group size exceeds the capacity of the Langdale-to-Gambier ferry.
