Description:

I dont mind changing the date of the trip or pretrip meeting becuase it is during the midterm break. That is flexible. Idealy, we should try to have it on the weekend so there is less traffic to get through. I actually like a bit of rain during a bike ride becuase I dont need to wear safety goggles to stop my eyes from drying out when the wind is blowing hard. I will delay the trip if there is heavy rain.

I would like to leave at 7:00 to beat the early morning rush hour traffic get to Buranby Mountain Park near SFU. It will take about 1 hour to get there by car. We should be back by noon. The number of people going is very dependent on how many empty spots there are on bike racks. So if you have a car with a big bike rack, I would love you to join this trip! I know that the bike frame shape is not compadible with all bike racks. Hopefully, we dont have that issue. Additional people could come by public transit but it will take upto 2 hours if you live on campus. Note that Canada Line allows one bike per car and Expo and Millennium Lines allow two bikes per car.

The bike trail is 11.1km long and has 362m of elevation gain. There maybe other people hiking with dogs on the trail so let's watch out for them.

What to bring: water bottle, few snacks, goggles or glasses to deal with the air in your face, a mountain bike with blocky or hybrid tires, and the padded cycling shorts would be good to have but not neccesary.

**Also be sure to check your bikes for any damage and the tubes for low pressure a few days in advance so still have time to correct that!

You can email me at [email protected] to ask or suggest anything.
