Have you ever thought to yourself

"Swimming in the summer is just to darn warm"

"The rain just doesn't get me wet and cold enough"

"I love hot {tea, coffee, chocolate}"

If so here's the trip for you! The plan is to ride our bikes to some water, go for a swim, and warm ourselves up with some hot drinks before heading back home. You're also welcome to come, skip the swim, and wonder why anyone would choose to jump in icy water as you sip hot tea on the riverside.

More specifically we'll meet at UBC, ride out to the Seymour demonstration forest and down to the river. The ride is ~35k each way and has one big hill (imagine doing the UBC hill 3 times in a row). It is also likely to be a little wet and cold in the forest It's a mildly difficult ride but nothing you couldn't do if you set your mind to it. It is on paved roads for all but the last 500m (which you could easily walk if needed). You can do the ride on any bike.

We'll ride at the pace of the group and no one will be left to ride alone

LIGHTS ARE MANDATORY - we may be riding home in the dark so please bring lights or find some cheap ones at a bike shop (bike kitchen). You should also bring whatever tools you have to repair your bike (especially a spare tire) and I'd recommend a helmet

We'll have two meeting spots for this and you can choose whichever is convenient

Pretrip will be Thursday at 7 pm. If that doesn't work for you just shoot me an email and you can still come along.

The weather is supposed to be nice and sunny on Saturday. If this shifts and the weather looks to be really wet I might cancel the trip or shift the goal (going for a swim and coming out into the rain doesn't feel as fun)
