Description:

The Sigurd Peak trail is a difficult hike that has some amazing views, and it's been on my list for a while now. The AllTrails page describes it better than I can:

"In many ways this is a quintessential Coastal Mountain hike - tons of elevation gain, super steep, rooty and rocky, and fantastic views from the summit! What makes this hike stand out is the fun alpine scramble as you approach the peak, as well as the lack of people on the trail. The trail is incredibly well marked and a little treacherous at times - it's not for the faint of heart! It's very steep and often difficult, with a few sections where fixed ropes come in handy. After 3.5h in the forest, the trail comes out to the alpine area where the wonderful views start. Once at the summit, you will be blown away by the beautiful views. "

The hike about a 22 km round trip with ~ 1900 m of elevation gain. This is potentially an intermediate hike (see VOC glossary), so you should have a fair amount of hiking experience and be comfortable hiking without an established trail.
