Description:

Hey ho,

Just moved to Van and I keep hearing about this Chief, SO:

I was going to try this take on hiking Slhanay and The Chief, camp at the Stawamus Campground, and join the Squamish top roping crew on the Sunday. You don't have to camp tho, you can just come for the hike.

Sun Squamish top roping trip: https://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/details.php?tripid=3005

Difficulty: Check out that first link above ^ ("Physically speaking the hike has its challenges but at 16km (~6-8hrs) it’s certainly not the longest hike. There are certain sections that are very steep... the via ferratas require a decent amount of nerve, so a comfort for heights and some exposure is a requirement... You will also need some upper body strength as you will be pulling yourself up cliff faces using ropes and iron bars."

I don't have a car so planning on bussing atm (bit of a trek), if there's enough interest we could hire a car (cheaper and easier), or better yet someone might have a car.

If you're down for the hike, a little confidence in doing a decent day of hiking is needed, and looks like good hiking shoes would help.

Feel free to shoot me any questions on Whatsapp +61 459 626 636

If you're defs in then message me on Whatsapp ^ and we'll make a group chat.

Cheers 🤙

Update Thu 15th: A mate's now in and he's got a car in Kits so makes getting there far easier. We'll be camping Stawamus Chief Provincial Park on the Sat and joining the climbing crew on the Sun so won't be driving back from Squamish on the Sat. Atm we've got 3 spare seats so hmu asap if you want to join.
