...

Seeing as I won't make the cut off for Cousin of Cave but might make the cut off for Daughter of Drytool, I now have a free day on Saturday! Join me on one of my favourite beginner friendly(ish)* day hike in Cypress up to Eagleridge Bluffs.

Eagleridge Bluffs via Black Mountain Trail | Map, Guide - British Columbia, Canada | AllTrails

Itinerary:

I will be out later the night before, so I propose a mid day start around 11am. I'm not sure when we'll be done, which is why I put 6pm as the finish time, but I definitely do not expect we will need 7 hours.

- Meet up at Cypress Ski parking lot at 11am, wait for everyone to come, start hiking

- Lunch at the ridge. Stay at the ridge for a while and enjoy the view

- Cheeky swim at Cabin Lake on the way down

Prereqs:

No hiking experience is required, all are welcome!

*Beginner friendly does NOT imply that it will not be challenging. Most of the elevation gain is done in the first half (~300m in ~1.6km), so baseline fitness is expected. We will be going at a slow pace and won't be leaving anyone behind. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions/concerns.

Logistics:

We will take as many people as we can, depending on car spots. If there is extreme interest and not enough car spots, we can also consider organizing evo car groups.

Gear:

- Backpack

- Packed lunch

- Swim suit+towel (if you wanna swim)

- Hiking boots/runners**

**While Eagle Bluffs is not a technical hike, the steepest section is also quite rocky, which can make the descent tricky. Hiking boots are suggested (especially if you have weak ass ankles!), but I know plenty of people who have done it in runners.

Pretrip:

Zoom link will be sent out day of.

I hate zoom pretrips, and I hate leading zoom pretrips even more, but seeing that the clubroom is pretty fully booked next week this seems to be our best option.

If you can't make the pretrip but still really wanna come, reach out to me. However, pretrip is suggested for those who have not hiked before, because I will be going over some hiking basics at the end. (10 essentials, leave no trace, reading maps, etc.)

Not a member but still interested?

1) Reach out to me and let me know

2) Come to Pretrip

Priority will be given to members, but you can come if we have enough car spots/you're willing to evo.
