Description:

Hiya everyone,

I'm planning this trip to get more people into mountaineering and help people build skills and confidince on a variety of terrain found in alpine climbing. We will be covering a range of different skills on the trip including but not limited to: route planning, risk management, footwork and axework, running belays, and steeper gradients (with a potential for some icework too).

If you already have decent experience I'd love some co-instructors to lead a 2nd and 3rd rope team.

I don't have classes on friday so if people are interested in heading up on the friday then I would be able to drive up and we could get some more time on the glacier.

Logistics for the trip:

The main plan for the trip is to depart early morning on saturday to maximize our weekend time and setup camp at wedgemont lake, the cabin is really small there so we will be camping. Depending on time and pace we will be using the first day to ge some exposure on the glacier, gague people's comfort and skill on the glacier before we delve into the more instructional aspects of the trip. Depending on people's ability level as well as comfort level we can adjust what we do to best suit the party. Day 2 will be another early start (maximizing the weekend time) and will be a continuation of Day 1's skill building, before packing up and returning home on sunday evening. Wedgemount lake is a pretty decent hike up, with 1300m elevation with our objective areas on the glacier being another 300-400m elevation past the lake.

Requirements:

A primary requirement for the trip is G1 or decent Alpine experience, you don't need to be an expert mountaineer (and if you were this wouldnt be the trip really for you unless you wanted to co-lead/instruct) but knowing crevasse rescue, roping up, self arrest IS A MUST

For gear the following is requried:

-Mountaineering boots

-Crampons and Ice axe

-Harness and an assortment of carabiners

-Prussics

If this sounds interesting to ya just shoot me an email through the VOC website or a text 206-380-3459 and I'll answer and questions you may have, I look forward to hearing from you all :)
