Description:

Want to get away from midterms for a few days? Come to Brew Hut for a relatively chill workhike.

Basically we have a bunch of firewood up at the hut right now that has to be split and moved into the firewood shed. As far as tasks go though, that's our only one, so hopefully we can get some hangout/exploring time. Here's a pic of the view from the hut to inspire you.

The plan is to leave Vancouver early on Saturday morning, drive in 3-4 car groups, and hike up together. We won't be leaving anyone behind while hiking, and certainly will go at a pace that will not be too strenuous. You should feel confident that you can get through 9-10 km of hiking with up to 1000 m elevation gain, but email us if you have any questions.

We're not quite sure what the weather will be like at that point, so we're going to plan for snowshoeing, and be pleasantly surprised if we can just hike without :)

If you have a 4wd high clearance vehicle and/or access to an axe, you will be especially appreciated on this trip.

Things you will need for this trip:

  • hiking boots (VOC rents some)
  • snowshoes (maybe; the club rents these)
  • an overnight pack (VOC rents these)
  • sleeping bag
  • sleeping mat
  • food (ask us if you need guidance here)
  • warm clothing
  • AXE if you can
