Description:

This is the fourth (semi annual?) steep lines trip. The idea behind the trip is to explore some steep skiing if conditions are stable. If the snow is good we will likely try to focus more on big mountain lines, if not, then probably some chutes and couloirs. Im not sure where this trip will be located (yet), and will be entirely dependent on conditions and access to good snow. Likelihood will be the Joffre/ darkside area in the duffey, with other areas considered.

The main purpose of this trip is fun and lots of smiles, while enjoying the joys of steep skiing. Please only come if you are willing to have fun. This is a strict policy.

Because this trip will involve some complex terrain, AST1 is necessary, and you should be able to ski a double black comfortably (40+ degrees). It would probably be handy to have some experience skiing steep lines and be comfortable breaking trail through what will hopefully be bottomless pow.

As much as I do ‘love’ winter camping, I’m aiming to stay in a hut, but we may have to bring tents if enough people come. Some huts are very much so first-come-first-serve, so we should be leaving Friday early afternoon- not that you should skip class (but you might want to)*. Hopefully we can make it up one before the Whistralians do, get our spots down ready for a skin up to see the sunrise from one of a peak on Saturday morning if its sunny. However, be prepared to winter camp if the right objective is possible.

Further details will be discussed at the pre-trip meeting. We will iron out details and cars etc. so it will be mandatory. Preference if given to those who can come in person

I really want everyone to feel welcome on this trip, so its important that all attendees feels a degree of respect and empathy.

Just to be clear, this trip will not be based on the order in which you sign up as committed, and will be based on group dynamics, diversity, and ability.

*you should
