Description:

I have been told that in years past, the club sometimes had a semi less beginner ice climbing trip called progeny of chill, where people who lead ice take people who know how to ice climb but don't lead up some multi pitch climbs. This is my attempt to restart this tradition.

The plan is to leave Vancouver Friday afternoon or evening and drive up to the Duffy, where we will be camping at Cinnamon rec site. We will then climb Saturday and Sunday, and drive home Sunday night.

Given this trip require some people who lead ice, the total group size will depend on how many of those sign up, but I am hoping to bring 6-12 people, with a ratio of 1 leader to 2 followers.

Ice climbers of all levels are welcome on this trip, but it is a prerequisite that you have climed ice before at least once and know how to make upward progress, even if you don't feel like a superstar doing it.

Required Gear:

- Standard climbing gear, plus ice ice specific gear (can be rented from the club)

- Winter camping gear, mostly just warm layers and a sleeping bag, as it could be kind of cold. Hopefully enough people also have decent tents (don't really have to be 4 season).

Standard disclaimer: I (and the other leaders) may think we are hot shit but we are not guides and we won't keep you safe. Only you are responsible for your own safety. Cheers
