Description:

Update March 6 12pm - we're now headed to Deep Cove Brewery for some core memory creation afterwards. Aka skiing 430-7, food n drinks 7-9, home by 10. Also I've sent out an email to those who've signed up, so if you're signing up later than right now, send me an email :)

Join me and a handful of other women*(Backcountry Ski Ladies of Vancouver Facebokk group) on Wednesday March 8 for some evening ski touring laps at Mt Seymour. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we get a lovely sunset. Day tripping winter gear required incl headlamps and layers - check the VOC gear list for more info.

Leaving UBC at 3pm to get to the BC parks tent with gear on at 4:30pm (driving across the city takes time plus gear faff).

Drivers can park on campus for easy loading and passengers can expect to pay another $3-5 plus gas money for this parking. This worked well on previous trips to speed up the loading process. Also drivers don't need to drive people all the way home if it's inconvenient for them. Folks should be comfortable bussing partway home if needed.

Email faff for car groups. Priority to drivers and those with more ski touring experience. AST1 not required but it would be good to get avi gear from the club. Ideally you could return avi gear the next day if you're not using the stuff for a VOC trip the following weekend as there are lots of voc trips that need avi gear for the 10-12 weekend. Avi gear is not required as we are only going to Brockton Point and then skiing down the resort. But if you can bring it, use it.

If you can't leave at 3pm, indicate that in the sign up questions and maybe some later cars can be organized and meet us on the resort.

This is not an instructional event nor a beginner friendly trip, so if youve never toured before and/or you're a beginner skier/splitboarder, this might not be the trip for you. You should be able to confidently ski blue runs and be relatively fit skinning uphill. I do not want to take too many breaks going up or down. Of course there will be faff, but I expect everyone coming to be confident in their abilities and not holding the group back.

Splitboarders- currently the VOC is not renting out splitboards as I've heard they are in various stages of broken. Luckily for us, our friends at All Access Adventure are doing discounted rentals for the evening! Send them a message on Instagram and let them know you're with VOC to get the discount :) and the owner(s) will probably be joining us too!

If you're not sure if the trip is for you, send me an email

Melissa
