Description:

Edit - may 6/7 is confirmed. Sign up and email me for the $75 off discount code. If we get more than 10 people, we will get a deeper discount (seems likely). The current plan is to do one day in Van in Pacific spirit and one in Squamish. We will organize carpools closer to the date.

Edit - it's looking like May 6 and 7th weekend right now

Heyo,

I'm looking to do my wilderness first aid course early this summer and found one in Squamish. If you are interested in WAFA (wilderness advanced first aid aka 40 hour course), now is a great chance! Also, I have secured VOCers a 15-25% discount for a group rate (bigger discount for more people).

In theory, I should've done WFA20 (or WAFA40) right when I joined the VOC. There have been a handful of trips I've been on where having WFA would definitely have helped me ease my worries and help if more serious situations arise. Considering we as VOCers do some pretty gnarly and high risk stuff, getting WFA or WAFA is a really good step towards recreating outdoors more safely.

Dates: Friday May 19 and Saturday May 20, big 10 hour days. In Squamish. Car camping nearby (probably Chek Canyon) or day tripping. To make it 40 hours, there is 20 hours of online instruction to complete before the course.

Why do WAFA with me?

- meet other rad VOCers

- increase awareness, knowledge, and confidence recreating in the backcountry

- we've got a discount! $75 off per person for 6-9 people, $100-150 off per person for 10+ people. 50% indigenous discount

- grilled dinner friday night

- lots of adverture tourism companies require WAFA40 or offer more $$ if you do have it

If you can't make these dates, they have other availability on weekdays in May. Personally, I can do May 11-23. Also, if there is interest, they can run a women's-only one, one in Vancouver (Pacific Spirit and UBC), a ski specific one, and one at Brew Hut come summer/fall (stay tuned).

If you're interested, take a look here (for example, at their women's course)

Signup as committed if you are down to signup right a way if we get a discount of 15-25%
