Description:

To help raise money for the Canadian Avalanche Centre, on November 6th 2012, the UBC Varsity Outdoor Club will be presenting Matchstick Productions Superheroes of Stoke, a celebration of Matchstick’s past twenty years helping shape skiing into what it is today. Featuring some of the sport’s top athletes, the movie looks at the sport’s past, it’s evolution to it’s current state and the direction it’s heading.

Blower pow hides away from the crowds of resorts and is drawing more and more people every year into the back country exposing increasing numbers of skiers to avalanche terrain. The Canadian Avalanche Centre works tirelessly to produce daily avalanche bulletins for those people for whom the back country calls. The information provided by the CAC helps keep back country chargers safer than ever before in avalanche terrain.

All proceeds from this event will be donated directly to the CAC to help support them in their work.

The movie is open to all ages and your ticket stub can be used for entry into the UBC PIT Pub afterwards (19+)

TICKETS: $10 in advance, $13 at the door.
