VOCer Beth Roskilly has generously offered to give a lecture on alpine ecology as part of VOC Plant School.
Come learn about the alpine environment from a plant perspective! This lecture gives a background of the alpine environment, plant adaptations to the alpine environment, and BC's biogeoclimatic ecosystem classification (BEC) of the alpine zones. We'll include a discussion of the effects of climate change and outdoor recreation in alpine environments if folks are interested. If you want to understand alpine ecosystems better or build your alpine plant ID skills, this lecture provides a great foundation and includes helpful resources.
