Description:

Hello VOCers!

This is the signup tool for the 2018 Glacier School G1 weekend course. This is a peer instructed weekend course for participants looking to begin their education in glacier travel and crevasse rescue.

If you're hoping to take ski touring to the next level, or are hoping to embark on some mountaineering adventures, G1 is a great place to start. Most ski traverses and summits on the west coast involve some sort of glacier travel, and having the right background and education is a must for yourself and your partners' safety.

Before you sign up, ensure you meet the pre-requisites for this course. This is for the benefit of not only the group, but yourself.

-participants MUST attend both sessions of dry school the week leading up to the trip to go over some learning material as well as organize carpooling and gear. Exact dates for dry school to be disclosed shortly.
-participants must  be able to top rope belay and understand the concept of what an anchor is in the context of climbing (if you do not, there are free top rope belay lessons at the Aviary)
- participants must be willing to read the glacier manual and come prepared to ask any questions they have about it (link to the new manual will be provided here shortly).

Priority will be given to those who meet the requirements and are able to drive. To ensure you're most likely to get a spot on the trip, please answer the signup questions in detail.
