Description:

I would love to do lake lovely water this summer. I have not done it but have received a lot of beta about the intensive hike and cable crossing. Would love to bring a small group (5-10) of advanced hiking/mountaneering VOCers up for some adventures. A trail goes from the Squamish River up to Lake Lovelywater to the Tantalus Hut.  This trail is very steep, and usually takes 3-4 hours to get up it.

Check out the wiki page for details on the approach. There is a cable crosssing called a Tyrolean. "The cable for the disused Water Survey cable car can be used to cross the Squamish River as described in Kevin McLane's book Alpine Select. The crossing is about 150 meter long and there are two cables. The lower one is about 1 inch in diameter. The upper one is smaller, but has aircraft warning markers attached to it making a Tyrolean impractical. Some people have been know to walk along the lower cable while holding the upper cable instead of doing a Tyrolean." So a climbibg harness, caribeeners and sling are required to do this trip.

I am hoping to start the friday morning, get up to the lake by Friday evening and camp. Depending on how tired we are we can hang out at the lake or continue up one of the peaks/explore the area Saturday and stay another night. Hoping to hike back down Sunday and return by Sunday evening. If other groups would like to start with us and stay longer to venture up Omega, Iota, Pelops, Niobe, Serratus or Alpha they are more than welcome.

Must be comfortable carrying large packs up very steep trail and accross cable river crossing.
