Start: Saturday, Oct. 20th, 2:00 pm

Description:

This event features a hilly-as-heck North Shore trail run, followed by a potluck chez moi. This event is NOT beginner-friendly, and experience running on technical, steep trails is required!

Part 1: Run

- runners will meet at Old Buck Trailhead at 1:45 pm, near the base of Mount Seymour in North Vancouver

- We will go over route details and get organized. The run will begin at 2 pm sharp.

 - We will follow the same route as 2015 and 2016, which is about 20 km and ~1000 m of elevation gain (https://www.strava.com/activities/732660415). If you completed this event in 2017, please note that the run was shortened by approximately 4 km (and a decent chunk of elevation gain+loss) due to cold rainy conditions and an unexpected later start time.
** If you show up without proper clothing/footwear/food/water, you cannot participate. This has been an issue every single year, and it makes the event less safe and less fun for the other participants, not to mention the unprepared person. NO EXCEPTIONS.**

For anyone who knows the North Shore trails well, the route is as follows:

Old Buck --> Bridle Path --> Sticks & Stones --> Bridle Path --> Baden Powell (Seymour Grind) --> Good Sir Martin --> Penny Lane, Rapid Transit, etc. --> Baden Powell (down through Hyannis) --> Fisherman's Trail --> Mystery Creek Climb --> Ridgerunner --> Greenland --> NS High School League Trail --> Forever After --> Dale's Trail --> through Mushroom Parking Lot to Incline Trail (then cross Mt Seymour Rd) --> Old Buck Connector --> Old Buck to parking lot

Don't worry, you don't have to memorize this! We will stay together as a group.

Part 2: Feast

Michael and I will host a potluck feast at my house (which is a 5 min drive from trailhead) after the run! Bring something to share, and I'll pop it in a cooler in my car while we run. There are showers at Parkgate Recreation Centre (right near Old Buck Trailhead) if you feel like washing up after the run.

NOTE: there will be NO pre-trip meeting for this event. I will send out an email with further details closer to the date. In the meantime, feel free to email me if you have any questions!
