Description:

Why Brew? The Brew Hut is our most accessible hut, so this trip is definitely beginner friendly. Later when there’s snow it’s somewhat less accessible.

Why this weekend? There is room for only 300 people at Rock Party, so what are the rest of you going to do? Maybe you don’t like rock climbing. Weather looks good.  It never rains on Rock Party weekend.

The plan: I pick you up with my sturdy Jeep rather early Saturday and we drive to Squamish Macdonalds for a toilet break, then drive as far as we can up the access road and park. The hike should take 3-4 hours. I can teach GPS navigation if you like. There’s a lake part way in for those who want to hone their skinny-dipping skills. There may be another ten people and a couple of dogs at the hut. At some stage we will probably want to climb Mt Brew; it’s about half an hour round trip from the hut. We might entertain ourselves in the evening by playing cards or telling stories until it’s bedtime. We won’t have a DJ and we won’t serve beer or cider.

How big is this trip: I’ve put us down for one carload of people at the hut because we don’t want to crowd the place.I already have three of the seats filled so we have room for two more people.

What to bring: A sleeping bag, not too warm, and a mat, a rain coat and boots* and a pack* and two lunches, and a breakfast and a dinner and a liter of water. I can provide a stove and fuel and a pot. I can provide almost anything you need as I have lots of stuff. I can provide dinner if you aren’t gluten or lactose or canned fish intolerant. But let me know.

Total cost: should be $10 for gas. The hut is ours and we get to use it for free.

* can rent these from VOC
