Description:

I'd like to do a day hike to Mt. Elsay this Saturday. The trail is a partial loop, 12-14 km length and 1,187 m elevation gain. I've only hiked the trail to Pump Peak with students for a field course (stopping often to look at plants) but I'd like to explore it further. The trail is likely to be busy until Mt. Seymour, which is an optional 30-min detour to the summit. I expect the trail to be somewhat challenging, including a boulder field on the descent, and to take us around 7 hours or so depending on our pace. I'd like to get an early start and hit the trail around 8 am and find a good spot with views for lunch!
