I believe there was already a Marriot Basin trip this summer but I’m unoriginal and would love to explore this area so running another!
The Marriot Basin trail is near Pemberton and leads to a beautiful alpine area with some lakes. 4x4 cars are ideal to get to the trailhead, but we can also park further away and walk along the logging road.
This is a beginner-friendly trip and open to all levels of expertise! It’s best if you have hiked before as it will be around 3 hours to the basin, but no one will be left behind. There is an elevation gain of around 560m and the trail to where we will camp is around 12km.
Depending what time we get to the lake, we can spend Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning exploring the area and seeking out some views. Those that are inclined could go up to the ridge or summit of Mount Marriot (scrambling involved) .
We will spend the night camping at the lake or near Wendy Thompson hut.
