Description:

This trip is marked as Intro to glampacking. However, you must already have plenty hiking experience and several wilderness campings under your belt. If you meet these pre-reqs and feel like taking the next step, then glampacking is just for you! Individual days on the itinerary are not so bad, yet the cumulative trip is definitely strenous. Therefore, this is not a beginner friendly trip. Glampacking means we will be spending the night at garibaldi park campsites, no wilderness camping on this ocassion.

Maximum trip size: For now the maximum trip size will be 12 (dependent on the amount of cars) since thats the maximum number of spots I can reserve for the campsites. However, if enough people sign up, another person can make a different reservation. Although I do prefer keeping the group small.

Itinerary: The exact itinerary is subject to change and is weather dependent. This trip will only be canceled if Garibaldi park shuts us down due to wildfires or the weather is dangerous. Unfortunately, I belong to the special group of people with late friday clases, so the first day of this trip involves some afternoon/night hiking, unless people that want to leave earlier meet us at the first camp.

Friday, October 8 - Day 1: Leave Vancouver at around 6pm towards rubble creek. This nights camp would be at taylor meadows campground. If everybody leaves at this hour, assuming friday festive traffic and a 2.5 hour ascent to the campground, the arrivial time should be no later than midnight. Distance to camp: 7km. Elevation gain: 900m.

Saturday, October 9 - Day 2: Head towards black tusk summit if the weather permits, this nights camp would be at helm creek. Those who dont want to climb black tusk dont have to. Distance: 14km. Elevation gain: 900m

Sunday, October 10 - Day 3: Head towards panorama ridge summit if the weather permits, this nights camp would be at garibaldi campground. Those who dont want to climb panorama ridge dont have to. Distance: 14km. Elevation gain: 618m

Monday,  October 11 - Day 4: Head back to the car, or if people are feeling strong, we could attempt a third summit ascent to mount price, although I presume we will all probably be pooped out from the previous days. Distance:  9km. Elevation gain: 40m

Total Distance: 44km

Total elevation gain: 2500m

Nights camping: 3 nights

This trip is definitely not for the light hearted or the weak minded. It will require back to back days of significant distance and elevation gain while carrying gear. Having said this, the plan is to go as light as possible. Get ready for a weekend of dehydrated food. Click HERE for the elevation profile of the planned route. Sunday night we will have a mediocre potluck probably featuring different flavors of backpacker food. Ill take a liter of wine so we can all share a cup.

I forgot to mention, cost of campsites would total out to around 5 CAD. This trip is completely dependent on securing reservation, although if my efforts do not secure us the spots, I will come up with a different 3 day excursion.
