Description:

Spirit of the Peaks is a new film from Wondercamp and NativesOutdoors, and REI Studios. The movie follows Hunkpapa Lakota skier Connor Ryan skiing in the Rockies on Ute Territory, negotiating his relationship to land and the mountains in another peoples' territory.

Here's a trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnzdWsJC9LM

It's a super cool film! I am organizing a showing of this movie along with a brief short film that explores Indigiqueer and Two Spirit relationships to land, and for those that have the time, a discussion afterwards exploring our positionalities and relationships to land –  from our individual backgrounds and as VOCers. What does it mean for us to ski and advocate for backcountry access on unceded Indigenous territory? I hope you'll find both the films and the discussion interesting, and hope you can join me!

No experience with this subject matter is required, just bring an interest in rad skiing movies and a willingness to learn!

Film will be showing in the clubroom! A zoom link will be provied for those that are COVID-y :)
