Description:

Located in the high desert of central Oregon, Smith Rock is one of the premiere sport climbing locations in the entire US. Let's spend a few days out there and get in some sends in this spectacular landscape!

The plan is to leave Vancouver after work on Thursday, arriving in the area very late that night (or stopping somewhere partway to camp and continuing on later, depending on how we're feeling - it's a long 8.5 hour drive). Then we'll spend Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday climbing as much as we want. There are also fun things to do in nearby Bend, like exploring lava tubes or chilling at breweries if we need to take a break.

We'll probably be dispersed camping about 15 minutes from the park as I'm not a big fan of the campground there. So participants will need to bring all the usual camping gear. You'll also need climbing gear, like harness, PAS, shoes, along with quickdraws/rope/stick clip if possible. And of course a passport/visa to visit the US if applicable.

The climbing grades at Smith Rock can be a bit stiff so I'm requiring at least Rock 2 level experience or equivalent (know how to set up anchors, top rope, etc) and would strongly prefer Rock 3 (sport lead). So, when deciding participants I will prioritize people with cars, ropes, and lead experience before using the committed list.

If you have any questions about the trip, feel free to get in touch!

Cheers,
Isaac
