Description:

Burton hut is my favorite VOC hut, and I am keen to take a group of VOCers to share the stoke!

Burton is located on the opposite side of Garibaldi lake, and is a bit of a longer ski in (but six km is flat over the lake). While skiing the switchbacks is a bit tricky, its nothing a determined VOCer can't handle (you can always attach your skis to your backpack and walk). As such, I want to include all experience levels on this trip, and will consider dividing into multiple groups based on experience level and size of the group as a whole. There is a possibility that a more experienced group could have a bit more time to ski above the hut and ski the barrier on the way down, but I won't be able to figure all of that out until we know more about who is coming along.

Please be aware that this is not a short trip- about 17 km each way, with sigificant elevation gain to get up to the lake (900 m). It would be great if you have experience with an overnight pack, and have ski toured a bit before, but we will move slowly and be accomodating of newer folks.

Send me an email if you have any questions or are wondering if this is the right trip for you.
