Have you ever wanted to climb your mates backs over a huge wall after either swimming, biking, sprinting or running in a team event? Well, this is your chance!

Welcome to the iconic Storm The Wall event at UBC! Im doing a some what last minute call for a team!

Now what is Storm The Wall? Here is a description from the UBC rec website:

Mandatory Pre-Race Clinics

Clinics include a safety demonstration, explanation of the race and its route, as well as a chance for teams to practice getting over the wall. For your team to be eligible to race, at least one person from your team MUST attend a clinic. It is recommended that you have at least four individuals from your team attend clinics so that you can practice on the walls.

Event Day

Teams of 5 compete in this one-of-a-kind event. Each person competes in a different leg of the race before meeting to Storm the Wall together. Ironpeople complete all the legs of the race on their own and Storm the Wall with the help of one other person. Depending on the Team Structure you choose, there are slightly different swim and bike lengths.

Team Structure Swim Sprint Bike Run
Competitive Team 175m (7 lengths) 500m 3.5km (9 laps) 1.5km
Just For Fun Team 125m (5 lengths) 500m 2km (5 laps) 1.5km
Iron Persons 175m (7 lengths) 500m 3.5km (9 laps) 1.5km

As you can see, the Just For Fun team is the non competitive version where you can just participate and then finish off by climbing the wall.

This is non competitive and no experience is required! Im not the most athletic person at all and you dont have to be either! Just come for a fun time.

Im looking for 4-7 people to be part of the team! Personally, Im more inclined to do either the sprint or run. If you want to do the bike portion, keep in mind you need to bring your own bike and helmet but you can also rent one from Hopr (more details on the Storm the Wall faq page).

If you dont want to do too much exercise, you can also opt to just participate in the Storm the Wall portion and help teammates over the wall! You can also sign up to alternate meaning we'll contact you to replace a member if someone is unable to participate.

Cost: Participation is 60$ split across all team members, so once we finalize the team I'll make the admission price and everyone can just transfer their portion!

There are 2 mandatory events for Storm The Wall:

the Clinic : basically a rehearsal/info session where you get to check out the wall! This takes place March 13-17/2023, and we dont need the entire team to attend, but it is mandatory at least one person shows up!

Storming the Wall : We can sign up for a slot between March 20 - 22, depending on everyones availability (i excluded the Sunday as I wouldnt be able to do it ), this is the actual event so everyone shows up and we represent VOC proudly!

Sign up if youre interested, and attend the pre trip zoom call! We'll figure out logistics and officially sign up for a slot at that time, so show up!
