Description:

I have loads of deadlines in April, so obviously the best thing to do is completely avoid my academic responsibilities by going to Phelix for the weekend. If you're equally committed to your academic success, then this is the trip for you!

The plan is to drive up to the lower parking lot at the Phelix Creek FSR on Friday evening and camp there, thus avoiding a horrible 5 am start on Saturday. We'll then snowshoe up to the hut on Saturday morning and make up for the calorie deficit with a potluck in the evening! You should be prepared for a relatively strenuous hike (10km with around 1100m elevation gain) with an overnight pack.

While I've been to Phelix a couple of times, this will be my first time organising a VOC trip, so I want to limit the group size to just 15 snowshoers. If you have experience, then do consider signing up!

Finally, we may need avi gear even though the hike is below treeline. I will update this page ASAP after confirming with execs.

Update: avi gear won't be needed.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: We now won't be able to sleep in the hut due to significant roof damage caused by falling snow. As a result, this will now be winter camping trip. The rest of the plan, however, remains the same. We will go over everything in more detail at the pretrip, but if you have any concerns then feel free to reach out!
