UPDATE: This trip has been postponed from 8/9 to 8/16 due to weather

I've just started hiking again after getting knee surgery 2 months ago, and I figured I'd take advantage of my mandatory break from 4th class gnar to lead a more moderate VOC trip.

The Zupjok-Llama-Alpaca traverse is a pleasant ridge walk located in the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area. After a steep forest grunt to gain the ridge, you will be rewarded with 6 km of of continuous rolling alpine terrain with pleasant views of the other Coquihalla peaks to the East and the Anderson River Group to the West.

Here is a picture of the typical terrain, taken from this useful trip report that I recommend reading: https://besthikesbc.ca/zupjok-llama-alpaca-peak/

Stats:

Distance: 20 km

Elevation Gain: 1300 m

Technical Difficulty: Off-trail hiking on alpine meadows and low angle slabs

Driving Distance: 2.5 hrs each way

This would be a good hike for anyone with moderate fitness, and does not have any exposed sections. I welcome people with less experience in this environment. It could be a good first off-trail excursion, but it should not be your first hike. It will be a long day with all the driving so it is important to have the baseline fitness for the statistics so we don't end up out in the dark. I will probaly keep the trip size to a maximum of 2 vehicles. This is a midweek trip because that works best with my work schedule and minimizes crowds, but I could also run it on Saturday the 19th if absolutely no one is able to go on a Wednesday. If you cannot go Wednesday but would like to go on Saturday, please sign up as interested and indicate that. Organization will be done primarily by email, the pre-trip will be short and flexible.
